Hougoumont Diorama - Celle Report Part 3

So. It’s time for my final report.
Some users asked me, if there are more photos of the Hougoumont complex.
And what did I have to say?
Yes, there are pictures. And I will show some of them in the following report.
Second question. Why was the attack on Hougoumont not part of the big diorama?
That’s quite easy to answer. There were only a few hannoverian troops engaged in that part of the battlefield. Detachments of Field Jaeger Corps,  and detachments of the Lüneburg and Grubenhagen Light battalions from von Kielmannsegge’s 1st hannoverian brigade. 200 men in the woods. The first enemy in the way of Jerome’s frenchmen.
At the end of the battle reinforcements of 2nd KGL and Salzgitter Landwehr battalion arrived at Hougoumont. But, to say it again, that was only at the end of the battle.
Enough to show this engagement on an extra table, but not enough to enlarge the diorama.
Third question. What’s about the prussians?
Which prussians ??? ;-))
Surely, the prussian advance and the attack on Plancenoit was very decisive for the outcome of the battle.
But in Celle the part of the hannoverian army was the most decisive part to show.
Maybe Plancenoit will be displayed at the diorama in the Preußen Museum in Wesel, Germany, in 2016. Here a exhibition of 1/72 figures in a mass diorama is planned. We will see.
Back to Hougoumont. The model was planned, constructed, built and painted by Jens Najewitz, founder and owner of Najewitz Modellbau.
For myself it was something like a trip in the past of our modelmaking hobby.
In the 1990s Jens also had a Hougoumont building in his shop. It was a plaster cast model and at that time it was the most detailed model in 1/72 scale.
Also the only one to buy here in Germany (I don’t know, when the hovels model in 25 mm found it’s way in the shops in UK).
Here you can see some pictures of it.

(I don't know exactly what happened with that model. Maybe Kai is still selling it today. Ask him via his webpage).

The depicted picture shows the model of my friend Heiko, our craftsmen, diorama architect and stress analyst: You have seen him in several pictures during the construction of the diorama.
Yes; we are a band of brothers.
The Hougoumont model of 2015 is fantastic. The laser technology can be used to make the masters of such a model even more realistic than in former times. And Jens is a real Yoda in using his lasercutter. A Jedi knight with his chinese lasersword. ;-)

And the only person, who knows how to break a british square.

In the following pictures you see Hougoumont during the exhibition in Celle.

As you can see the model is really big. Round about 70 x 80 cm. Only the buildings.
Surely, compared with the mass diorama, it looks rather small but in a standard living room you need a little bit space to present it.

Defenders and attackers.

And now we come to a more bitter part of our task.
We needed 3 days to build it up. It was demolished in only 3 hours.
Yes, really.
Here are some pictures of the removal of our diorama.

(Don't want to tear it down Klaus)

(I ain't do nothing)

(O.K.)

(Has anyone seen La Haye Sainte?)

(So guys. We want to start collecting my figures)

(Trees. A place for trees)

(The good into the pot, the bad into the crop)

(Boxes. Who needs boxes?)

(It's getting hot)

(The cavalry is broken ...)

(Hiding under the table)

(I'm so tired, I haven't slept a wink ...)

(... I'm so tired, my mind is on the blink ...)

(I don't want to see that ...)

(Look. I need exactly thát figure. Yes, that figure. It is THE ONE out of the 15.000)

What is remaining.
The buildings.
One La Haye Sainte, one Hougoumont. You can buy the buildings in Jens’ webshop.
www.lasermodellbau.de
Some trees.
Some hedges and cornfields.
The figures are stowed away.
You can buy them. Dirk is selling the most part of it.
The medium-density fibreboards and the metal bases are in a garage. Waiting for a time to be used maybe with another diorama.

(O.K. guys. Just a few minutes)

And at the end there is a bow to the dutch troops.

(THE INCREDIBLE HULK, äh Frank)

(Sadly)

(Guys. That's the rest).

In my former article I have mentioned that the Brigade Bylandt was not as black as it is painted.
So here in the pictures you see our special historical revisionism.
Brigade Bylandt was the last formation to go from the battlefield. ;-)

For those about to rock, we salute you ….

So.
Was soll ich darauf sagen?

http://www.fuhrmann-figuren.de/porcelin/hauptteil_houg1.html

Unfassbar.
Hier einige Bilder vom Abbau.
Was bleibt neben den netten Erinnerungen übrig.
Die Gebäude.
Einmal La Haye Sainte, einmal Hougoumont.
